Detailed update

ok time to submit the full report of my sydney life.

lets start with the place i live. its in a suburb called darlington. In fact, the whole main campus is in darlington. during a campus tour our tour guide explained that the uni bought the whole suburb some time back and build the whole uni around the wentworth building, which is diagonally opposite my house. but the uni map shows that this place is more of a corner than a centre.

Lets start with the day i arrive. i reached sydney at around 8am, feeling a bit scared (coz i didnt know what to expect) and very excited (coz facing the unexpected excites me). The jpa officers were waiting for us at the airport and we were ordered to go to malaysian hall for a briefing. Considering that jpa officers picked up the curtin students and treated them to lunch at a RESTAURANT, I thought that they would at least cover our transportation. But no, we have to pay for the van that those officers booked for us ($10) to go to malaysian hall for NASI AYAM.And then pay ourselves to get to our accomodation ($15). On the way, we learnt that going to our place directly from the airport is actually cheaper. However, it was an order from jpa, it was not to be defied. Not that we're new to jpa's tyrannical style of doing things.

Along the way to where we (the darlington terrace and house occupants) were supposed to go to get our keys, we saw some really old style terrace house. Really vintage kind of house. Wong (kuan yuen) was joking that maybe our houses would be something like this. Then we went to the international office to take our keys and went to the address they gave. And guess what, those terraces are our houses.

this is my house

this is my room

But this place is quite convenient. its close to my class, to king street which has a lot of restaurants, lots of bus stops, and the international office is just a few metres away. the nearest shopping complex is 15 minutes walk away though. and thats the nearest place to buy bread. so, i do weekly shopping.to walk there i must cut thru a beautiful park called vittoria park.

I also joined a lot of clubs. there's the malaysian club, engineering club, unimates (where international students get together to have fun) and the most important 1, the anime club. there's screening every tue, wed and thu afternoon. i feel so happy there's a club like this.

oh and the smoke alarm went off 3 times while i cook. but nothing happened.
