Today

Today I woke up at 8.30 and missed the 8am math lecture. I checked my handphone and found that I have subconsciously adjusted my alarm to go off at 9 so that i will miss the lecture. This is weird because I usually subconsciously set it at 8.30.

***************

Today, after lunch, I went to the housing office to submit a form. After that, I went into the escalator, and the door closed. There was only this old lady in the escalator with me. Ok maybe she's not old, she looked a little younger than 50. and suddenly, she said, "Hi, I like your shoes. They're so...cool."

I was wearing my Nike Air with revolutionary design and state-of-the-art shoewear technology.

I would've been flattered, if she's a teenager. But she's not, and I was so shocked by her compliment that it took me 2 seconds before I answered "Thank you" with a huge artificial smile on my face. I feel as awkward as one caught in an escalator with a woman older than one's mother who just complimented how cool one's shoes are can be. And that's very, very awkward. She was opening her mouth to probably compliment my shoes further when fortunately, the escalator doors opened and a guy came in. She did not resume the conversation.

After some thinking, I have formed a few possible hypothesis:

1) She likes younger men and was hitting on me.
2) Her son's birthday is coming up and she likes my shoes so she wanted to know where to buy them. If this is indeed the case, I would have to tell her "Ipoh".
3) She collects Nike shoes since 1950.
4) She works for Adidas and have never seen that model before (as it's not sold in Australia) so she plans to get a pair and steal all the technology.
5) Not talking for 10 seconds while waiting for the elevator to get down to ground floor is too unbearable so she was trying to make conversation.
6) She's young at heart, or at least try to be.

Today, I also earned $10. Of course, it requires some sacrifice. I have to be a guinea pig for those psychos in psychology department and let them mess with my mind and my sense of identity. I was forced to read 96 malay sentences on the screen while they study my eye movements, no doubt to penetrate my thought and use the info obtained against me in the future. It was quite fun and I made some new friends too (other guinea pigs). Easiest $10 I've ever earned.
