For the last meal b4 the new sem started, I cooked curry coz I dunno when again can I spend so much time cooking in the near future. I kinda felt like i shud take my own sweet time while i still could, so i did everything at a leisurely pace n finished cooking 2.5 hrs later. It was good, and it lasted 3 meals (after that all I've had were microwave food and instant noodles. But it's Saturday now so i'll cook something decent today). I made a pathetic attempt to prolong my holiday by sleeping at 5 am that night and ended up being late to my 1st lecture of the sem, as aforementioned.
Oh have I bitched mentioned that i had an assessment already, in the1st week of uni? Coz i had. It was on friday, for mechanical design. That's the subject that's supposed to teach us free-hand sketching so that we can sketch machines and their parts. Our first assignment was to sketch a block with protruding cylindrical shapes at the sides. I've always thought that i have zero talent in drawing but that cant be true coz there were ppl doing worse than me. If my assumption stands then it means they have negative artistic talent, which is not possible so we have to adjust the scale to zero their talent, thus pushing my talent to the positive side. So we come to the conclusion that I am somewhat artistically gifted.
Right b4 uni started, I finally bought Robin Hobb's liveship trilogy. I had a hard time deciding whether I'll enjoy this or the soldier son trilogy more. I am again reminded of why I love Robin Hobb so much. I find it not as unputdownable as the previous 2 trilogies of hers coz the ppl and settings keep changing every chapter but I wouldnt be able to stop mid-chapter. The level of details given to each character, the scale and completeness of the world she created and the magnificent plot with delicious twists, cleverly told, create yet another extraordinary story. Why Robin Hobb hasn't achieved the level of attention similar to, or even surpassing, that of JK Rowling or CS Lewis I couldnt imagine. She's definitely one of the best. Stupid world.
I'm listening to Switchfoot. They're good.
